In February of 2010, 2011 and 2012, La Isla attended the North Island Festival of Music and received First Class Honours with marks in the high 80s, and most recently, Distinction with a mark of 95 percent (adjudicated by Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto). They were chosen to perform at the Honours Performance each year, which features the best musical and dance performances in the competition.

La Isla in Concert
In the summer of 2009, at the request of the Classical Guitar Examiner of that year, La Isla travelled to Austria, where they performed at the Real Gymnasium in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, at the Spanish Riding School in Piber, Styria, and at the Musikschule and Musikhauptschule in Feldkirchen, Carinthia. They also were asked to perform at a private function in Klagenfurt.
Over the years, Helga's students have played for world renowned guitarists such as Pepe Romero and Liona Boyd, and have performed at various Conservatories in Canada and Austria. They have achieved wonderful success in their annual Royal Conservatory Exams, obtaining some of the highest marks in Canada.
